The security feature allows the administrator to determine which operations a particular user group can perform, and logs the users name along with the operation in the history of the data set. Shimadzu has updated its UV Probe software (compatible with its full line of UV Vis spectrometers) to V2.0 to include user authentication tools for strict security and centralised management of ID codes and passwords. Together with further enhancements over the current version, V2.0 can ensure full compliance to FDA 21CFR Part 11 via UV Probe Agent.

The CLASS Agent software is a solution concept for FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance for analytical instrument data. All data generated by various analytical instruments, all related log files for user access and instrument operation are automatically transferred into an SQL® or Orcacle® database. Using the Archive Agent program, any files (documents, tables, etc.) can be also added to the database.
