The next-generation single channel capillary FID gas chromatograph being introduced to the UK market by Shimadzu UK is capable of achieving high performance analysis results while making energy savings of approximately 30 percent compared to previous Shimadzu instruments. The energy-saving GC-2025 completes analyses in 25 percent the time of conventional capillary GCs. Shimadzu has designed the compact, eco-friendly GC-2025 from scratch with energy efficiency in mind. The new small footprint gas chromatograph features a more compact column oven. Improved thermal insulation materials inside the oven minimize the heat capacity and heat loss to reduce electricity costs and offer environmentally friendly benefits.

To support Shimadzu UK Limited’s continuing UK investment programme the Milton Keynes based instrumentation manufacturer has appointed Dr Robert Keighley as the company’s new Spectroscopy and TOC Business Manager. Shimadzu UK has invested heavily in recruiting sales personnel and has expanded the company’s sales team to 11 while adding business development managers for the company’s GC, (+GC-MS) LC (+LC-MS) and Spectroscopy product groups.

2008 - Seegene, Inc. and Shimadzu Corporation today announced a strategic partnership to combine Seegene's Seeplex(R) multi-pathogen tests with Shimadzu's MultiNA(1) analytical platform. Under terms of the deal, Shimadzu and Seegene will collaborate on integrating the Seeplex polymerase chain reaction-based tests with Shimadzu's MultiNA high-speed electrophoresis system to provide a highly sensitive, high-throughput multi-pathogen detection and analysis solution.

The development was carried out based on the agreement with Waters Corporation (Milford, MA) originally announced at PittCon 2007.
