laboratory by utilizing the power and security of Microsoft Windows® NT/2000/XP.

This latest version of the popular CLASS-VP Chromatography Software
provides complete data acquisition, instrument control, analysis,
and reporting and is validated to run in Windows NT 4 and Windows
2000 Professional. System administrators can completely customize
access to instruments and projects, including password protection
and assignments of functional levels for each user. This enables
the laboratory to run more efficiently; each user only has access
to the data system functions required to perform his or her job.
Each VPServer, running Microsoft Windows NT, is preconfigured and
contains A/D hardware required for data acquisition, RS-232, or
SCSI I/F required for multiple instrument control and digital data
acquisition. All aspects of data acquisition and data storage are
performed by the VPServers connected to the network.

CLASS-VP Client/Server includes a comprehensive method audit trail
that tracks information such as date of change, user, new value,
previous value, and reason for the change. The method audit trail
can be viewed on the screen, or printed for storage with laboratory
documents. Additionally, the data audit trail tracks activities
using the stored data file. It includes time, user analysis (such
as new analysis), and the reason. The data audit trail can be
displayed on-screen or printed for storage with laboratory records.
To aid in maintaining system integrity, CLASS-VP Client/Server
provides a Software Modulation Validation program, which performs
a validation of the content and version for all components of the
software running on the network.
CLASS-VP Client/Server fully complies with 21 CFR Part 11 Electronic
Signature requirements. In addition to the display of electronic
signatures on the report, the display of electronic signatures
on the report, the signature information (Who, When, and Why) is
stored within the data file with a CRC checksum to prevent tampering
with the signature record.
Advanced Control for Gas Chromatography
Shimadzu CLASS-VP Client/Server is also a stellar performer when
used in conjunction with Shimadzu GCs. The CLASS-VP GC control
package provides automated graphical control over both the GC and
its autosampler, including complete random sample access. The software
automatically calculates acceptable values in method development,
and automatically rejects invalid parameters.
All GC events such as split ratio reduction, detector signal zeroing,
external valve control and others for carrier gas conservation
are supported. Intuitive operations are ensured for all Shimadzu
GC Automatic Injection Systems, including dual tower. These autosamplers
utilize our intelligent batch funcationality to control the autosampler
in a decision-making process.
Powerful PDA Detection
CLASS-VP Client/Server offers comprehensive control of the powerful
Shimadzu SPD-M20Avp, Photodiode Array (PDA) detector with high
sensitivity and high spectral resolution. Simultaneous qualitative/quantitative
calculation by multi-channel peak tables, structure elucidation,
library searching, component identification, and total purity assessment
provides even further validation and productivity enhancement.
